The Kate Kane character is canonically lesbian in the comics, and her TV counterpart will be the same. Producers sought out an actor with the same sexuality as the character, and Rose -- an out Australian star whose credits include Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, John Wick: Chapter 2, and Pitch Perfect 3-- turned out to be the perfect choice.

Backlash that sprung up after her casting was announced led to Rose deleting her Twitter account and turning off comments on her Instagram. But none of the bad stuff diminished her excitement after landing the role.

The CW's three-part crossover event -- which doesn't include the networks Legends of Tomorrowseries -- kicks off on Dec. 9 with The Flash, then continues on the next two nights with Arrowand Supergirl, respectively. It's not clear exactly when Rose's Batwoman will surface, but hopefully it's early and often.
