As we learned a few months ago, Dern is playing Vice Admiral Holdo, a very stylishly-dressed officer within the Resistance. But she and General Leia Organa have a history -- and do not see eye to eye on everything.

While Lucasfilm is understandably reluctant to give away too much about Holdo's role, director Rian Johnson hinted that the two have met before. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he teased that figuring out Holdo's relationships was "part of the fun." He added:

I don’t want to tip the hat too much, but I will say that the heat is immediately turned up on the Resistance. Everybody is put in a pressure cooker right away, and relationships crack and strain under that pressure. That was really interesting to me, the notion of putting this small army under a lot of external pressure and showing some of the results within the Resistance itself.

Sounds like there's trouble brewing within the Resistance leadership – which has us wondering if Leia's protégé Poe Dameron might be involved.

Whatever happens, there's one thing we know for sure: when two great actresses like Laura Dern and Carrie Fisher face off, the realwinners are the audience.
