The intensity of celebrity scrutiny was the reason Jude Law visited a cinema in Bath, UK, yesterday dressed in a dark hoodie. He was going to watch a screening of Detroit and wanted to remain anonymous so as to best enjoy the film.

Unfortunately his choice of behooded-garment meant that staff at the cinema thought he was a suspicious character.

Connor Walter, who works at the Odeon tearing tickets, was told to keep an eye on him just in case he tried anything shady. Luckily he recognised the famous actor.

"I was convinced it was him when I tore his ticket, so I decided that when I met him I'd love to be able to say more to him than just a few words in person (as I gathered he'd just want to get away!)," Connor told Mashable.

"We had a quick talk about the film Detroitwhich he had just watched and enjoyed, and he just apologised and said he had to get away!"

Connor had time to ask Law for a photo, though, and he obliged.

He also wrote a little note expressing his admiration for the actor with his personal email on it, which he gave to Law before he left. And lo and behold, a little while later he received the following email:

Some articles are claiming that Connor slipped the note into Jude Law's back pocket, but Connor said this wasn't quite how it happened.

"When I gave him the note, he slipped it into his back pocket as he was leaving," said Connor. "A few articles are saying 'I slipped the note into his pocket myself,' which is just weird and makes me sound desperate."

Connor emailed Jude Law back and has not had a reply, but as he says, "I'm just ecstatic he emailed in the first place."

So as Connor points out, pretty good going, and he'll always have the memories!
