Yet TIME, the home of the latest in youth trends, published an article on Thursday stating that it was the "viral catchphrase millennials having been looking for" and it had become a favourite of the difficult to reach 18-30-year-old demographic.

The assessment was based off a tweet by Google Ventures partner and coiner of youth words, Ken Norton, on Wednesday, riffing off the time-tested internet phrase "hold my beer."

According to TIME, "hold my avocado" is"perhaps the most zeitgeist-encapsulating catchphrase we've seen in a while."

"In other words, 'hold my avocado' is a quick way to denote the contemporary millennial experience: seeking luxury wellness, but potentially derailed by sociopolitical developments," the article reads.
